History

The Bramblehill’s Healthy Choice brand was launched in 2004 by Mr. Mat Ball, as a division of Johnston’s Butcher Shop to focus on the natural pet food industry. Johnston’s Butcher Shop has been producing dog food and treats over the past 30 years. Bramblehill’s Healthy Choice distributes holistic raw dog food, respecting the Biologically Appropriate Raw Food (BARF) diet to maximize your pets’ health and longevity. In 2009, Bramblehill’s Healthy Choice purchased the brand, Churchill Farms, providing a broader range of bones and treats available to the consumers.

The name, Bramblehill, originates from Mr. Ball’s mother, Penelope Ball, a Labrador breeder who operated the Bramblehill’s Kennel. The Bramblehill’s Kennel was located on the hills of Promontory, Chilliwack known for its thriving brambles, hence the name, Bramblehill.

During the 1970’s, the original Bramblehill’s recipes were developed by Penelope Ball that incorporated beef bone meal and meat trim from the Johnston’s plant with the current blend of food. Mr. Ball perfected the family recipe following the researched feeding practices of the BARF diet to manufacture a recipe from quality meats, vegetables, and fruits guaranteed to ensure a wholesome, nutritious diet.

Today, Bramblehill’s Healthy Choice produces our line of holistic raw dog food and distributes cooked dog bones and treats under our brand, Churchill Farms, which strive for optimum health for your beloved pets.
